Micron will stop making Crucial memory

Micron will stop making Crucial memory and SSD's from Feb 2026 to focus on Enterprise AI an Datacentre products.

This decision has various aspects:

1) Entire industry focusing on AI with massive investments from all tech giants in the AI industry.

2) More profits in enterprise grade products than consumer grade products, hence maximising shareholder value.

3) Resource allocation for Research and Development instead of making low end components.

4) Scarcity of rare earth minerals like gallium and germanium imposed by Chinese restrictions. Compounded by limited silicon wafer production capability since the demand is three times more than the capability at this time by the giants like TSMC, samsung and Intel.
